We recently attended a meeting of our kidney support group and heard a very informative presentation by a registered dietitian who works with kidney patients at a local dialysis center. The program reinforced how important nutrition is for people with kidney disease. It also reminded me that there are aspects of diet and nutrition that are equally important to keep our kidneys healthy.
Therefore, we are adding a new page to our website for Nutrition. Adding this page will also result in some changes to the Education page, so that its focus will be on general information about kidney disease – other than nutrition, and the information relating to diet and nutrition will be found on the new page for Nutrition.
We hope that people visiting our website will find this change useful and informative. We want to have this website serve more than one purpose. The primary goal is still to get out the word about Nancy’s need to find a living donor for a kidney transplant. But we also see the value of sharing what we learn with anyone with a general interest in maintaining kidney health and preserving their kidney function if they have kidney disease.
If you find anything in our website that piques your interest, please feel free to use it, and share it with your friends and family. You might also want to follow the links provided to other websites, articles, and organizations where you will find more detailed information of value to anyone who wants to protect their kidneys. The National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) reminds us in their literature to “Love Your Kidneys”, which we think is very good advice. Nancy & David Flint
